The word compliance is on everyone’s lips – but often both its meaning and practical benefits remain obscure.<\/p>\n
Compliance means legally compliant behavior, i.e., adherence to codes of conduct, laws, and guidelines by the respective company.<\/p>\n
Now one might say: We have to do that anyway! We are obligated to do so in any case and thus act accordingly.<\/p>\n
However, this justified objection falls short. One only needs to think of a case of damage or a recognized product defect that can lead to a case of damage. Often there is uncertainty about how to properly deal with such a recognized hazardous situation. After all, for management and employees in leadership positions, it’s not just about averting harm from the user as well as the company. There is also a threat of criminal liability in case of incorrect response, or at least the payment of substantial fines if \u201cby mistake\u201d an administrative offense is committed.<\/p>\n
